Upton Ladder 1 was requested right away as Grafton's Tower was out of service. Arriving companies were met with a 2 story wood frame house with an attached barn full of hay fully involved. Boston MA Level 3 Hazmat 6/24/2009 : I was just in front of Engine 33 & Ladder 15's quarters on Boylston Street when Box 2312 was struck for the Boston University Science Building at 590 Commonwealth Avenue. Arriving companies were met by evacuating students and staff who reported an explosion in a chemical locker on the 3rd floor. District 4 establishing command ordered a Level 3 hazmat response and for the 1st alarm companies to evacuate anyone left in the building. After the arrival of several extra companies, special units and hazmat technicians; companies suited up and entered the building. A 4' x 4' spill was found in the lab along with the location of a small explosion in the storage locker. The incident was ongoing for several more hours before companies began to make up.

The heavy drizzle and fog was playing havoc with the flash and camera so photos of all the assorted apparatus was difficult.

Plainville MA 2nd Alarm 5/26/2009 : Plainville Fire received a call reporting a fire in the area of 75 Walnut Street. The caller stated there was fire coming from the roof of a neighbors home. Engine 3 arrived on scene and reported fire showing from the roof line. North Attleboro Engine 5 was requested on the 1st alarm and ordered to lay into the fire. When North Attleboro arrived they discovered that there was no hydrants for over 1,000 feet of the scene and ran out of supply line well short of the fire. As Plainville Firefighters attempted to knock down the heavy fire, the electrical service to the house dropped onto Engine 3 causing the crews to loose water. When the companies were able to regain water on the fire there was still no water supply and companies began running out of water again. As I arrived on scene a mutual aid engine was just finishing the suply line stretch and Wrentham Tanker 1 was supplying water.
